Quality not quantity 2011 Retrospective

2011 saw me push past been involved in 50 shows since beginning in the Spring Summer of 2007. Even though this year the number of projects was down the quality was still there. Once again taking a senior and creative role. As well as two successful interstate work related trips to both L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion festival attending Alex Perry SS11/12 and Business seminar and Rosemount Australian Fashion week Spring Summer 2011/12 as an industry delegate.

A Pre show reflection. Chambord Designer showcase AFF 2011

Four years on since the festival's creation it is now a vital part in promoting the growth of South Australian Designers, the retail industry and industry affiliates like bloggers, media and stylists.
Having been involved in some way or another in a back of house capacity each year it was good to take a step back and capture the pre show buzz, anticipation that comes with any runway show.

Paolo Sebastian. The return

There was much anticipation of the return of Paolo Sebastian to Adelaide as part of the Adelaide Fashion Festival, with a lineup to enter the venue similar to that of an Alex Perry show and a full length runway we would surely be in for a treat.

The collection moved gracefully from crisp white chiffon gowns and beaded detailing to a sudden darker mood of black lace and tulle, much like that of the Black Swan ballet piece the collection showcased two very different moods, yet totally working together.

The pacing of the show was steady even though some of the tracks were very uptempo. With the models constantly carrying off a graceful pace on the runway.

MISS UNKON Girls with Kaleidoscope Minds RAFW 2011/12

I was looking forward to previewing this seasons collection due to the fact last years was so creative on terms of fashion design and runway production. The SS2011/12 was no exception.

A much simpler backdrop apart from the two massive balloons that doubled as a projection surface which balanced out the softer colours and fabrics of Miss Unkon's Kaleidoscope minds collection. The central runway feature also added to the theme which helped make for a standout Finale in the way in which choreography was used.

Bowie. Paper Crane RAFW SS2011/12

From hair and makeup, set design through to creative choreography, each runway production as with the whole of RAFW is reliant on collaboration, management and professionalism across a number of disciplines. Of course without a strong collection and individualism in idea and creativity the end result would be lacking.

The following is an photo diary of backstage at Bowies Paper Crane SS2011/12 which officially closed RAFW in the Cargo Theatre. Special thanks to Bowie, Jess Woods, Filip Odzak-Fashion Squared2 & Bowie team.

Jayson Brunsdon SS2011/12 showroom visit

One of the perks of hanging with South Australian boutique owner and buyer, Nel Candetti, of Chasing Nel during RAFW was a visit to see Jason Brunsdons showroom. The colours were amazing especially for colour blocking and there was a variety of styles to suit the younger generation buying into the brand and those who already covet the brand.

Along with a great range of vibrant accessories and gorgeous shoes collaborated with Peep toe shoes. Special thanks to Nel Candetti and Jayson Brunsdon.
